Elaine Butters (Earl)

Elaine Butters Earl 1944-2023

Elaine, “Lainey Bugs” passed away peacefully at home May 12, 2023 surrounded by her family. Elaine was the most loving, kind and amazing woman as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and great-grandmother. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert F. and Genevie W. Butters on January 9, 1944. Elaine attended South High School and had many friends in the Liberty Park area. She met and married Raymond Don Earl, the “perfect man for her” on February 11, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised five children. Elaine has 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her love for Jesus Christ was evident in all aspects of her life. Elaine was a friend to all and warmly embraced and served so many who crossed her path. Anyone who met her was richly blessed with her kind words and expressions of love. She made friends everywhere she went, even in the final weeks of her life.  Despite battling many health challenges throughout her life, she was a great example of facing difficulty with dignity, poise, positive attitude and resilience. She loved being with her family, cooking, attending various children’s activities and any excuse to stay up late and eat snacks. She loved movies, books, games, Hallmark movies and loud music.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Genevie Butters and her husband, Raymond. She is survived by her children Doug (Lieca), Greg (Julie), Jennifer (Samuel), Emilee (Will), Brian (Natalie), and siblings Burt (Lauren), Barbara (Ken), Linda (Dennis), Jenette (Lynn).

We express our appreciation, gratitude and love to all the medical teams who kindly cared for our mom in such a respectful and tender way.
