Yet another branch has fallen from my tree of friends.  It thins with each passing year...

Dallas was a friend for more than 60 years.  We had a long and joyful phone conversation a few months ago--laughing as we reminisced about those years.  He had a successful professional career and a warm and loving family.  I never met all those who loved him, but his wife, Toni, his sister, Susan, and his sister-in law, Georgia were deep sources of his gratitude toward life.

I am sad as I write these comments--very sad.  Thanks for the memories, my friend.  May you Rest in Peace...

Richard,

Many thanks for your poignant words in response to the sad news about Dallas. I was not one of his close friends but I knew and thought highly of him. I first encountered Dallas in Cops League baseball when we were 14. My team played against his several times at Municipal and Fairmont ball parks, where I greatly respected his pitching and athletic ability. Later at South, I got to watch and write about his achievements in sports for the school newspaper. But I regret I never shared a class with Dallas and that I didn’t get to know him better as a friend. I join with you in saluting his life and loved ones, and also you for being such a good and loyal friend.

Cheers,

Gordon
