1944 ~ 2004

Dale Louis Stagg passed away on Friday, September 3, 2004 and has returned to his beloved Heavenly Father.

Dale was born on August 15, 1944 to his earthly parents Charles E. Stagg and Sydney Marie Terway Stagg. Dale attended local schools and graduated from South High, Weber State University with a B.S. Degree in Health and Education and a Masters Degree from the University of Montana in Health and Education. He participated in Track and Cross Country at Weber State and South High earning All-State and All-Conference honors. He participated in two National Track and Field Championships. He held many Weber State and Big Sky Conference records. Dale also officiated basketball for the Utah High School Activities Associations for 24 years. He was a very good official and has the honor of working five championship games. He was also a baseball umpire for 15 years working in the Automotive and Legion programs. He was employed by the Salt Lake City School District working for 31 years as a teacher and a coach at South High and East High. His teams won six State Championships, numerous Region Championships and he developed four All-American Athletes: Rosy, Sarah G., Elizabeth and Stefani, who meant the world to him. Dale loved all the young people he coached and they loved and respected him. He was named Coach of the Year 10 times by his peers and association members, the U.H.S.A.A. and the U.H.S.T.C.A. He retired after 31 years in 1999.

Dale loved the outdoors, fishing and camping in particular. He was an active member of the LDS Church, being ordained a High Priest by Elder Robert D. Hales, member of the Twelve Apostles on March 8, 1998. Dale also received his own endowments in the Salt Lake Temple on July 23, 1997. He was a very kind and generous person who loved and followed the Lord. His charity towards others went far beyond the normal person. He loved to surprise people with gifts of both charity and love and he will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

Dale is survived by his three beautiful daughters who were the "light of his life", Tina (John) Andrade, Angela Engesath, Marceea Stagg; ex-wife Carol, all of Southern California; brother Charles E. (Cris) Stagg of American Fork; sister Sharon (Neil) Hunsaker of St. George; four grandchildren, Nicholas (13), Joshua (11), Mykell (13), Audreauna (11).

Funeral Services for Dale will be held on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Winder 3rd Ward, 4551 S. 1200 E. Friends may visit with the family on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E. and on Sat. morning at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.

Dale passed away at age 60 on September 3, 2004.  He is survived by daughters Tina Andreade, Angelo Engesath, and Marceea Stagg, Ex-wife Carol, and brother Charles and sister Sharon Hunsaker.  Also 4 grandchildren. 

He worked for 31 years as a teacher and coach at South High and East High.
