Gideon Herrmann (Teacher) VIEW PROFILE

Gideon Herrmann, beloved husband, grandfather, brother and friend, 64, passed away May 1, 2001 from heart failure at a local hospital.

Born August 13, 1936, Brooklyn, New York to Julius Karl and Erna Wiechert Herrmann. Married Arlene Bird on March 30,1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Gideon taught in the Salt Lake City School District for 30 years and also served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 26 years, retiring at the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was employed as a Medical Technician with ARUP at the time of his passing. He recently celebrated his 40th anniversary with his sweetheart. He served faithfully in various church callings in his ward and stake. He was a marksman and enjoyed the outdoors, particularly family outings to Lake Powell, where he would recall his biological studies with the BLM of the pre-damned Glen Canyon. He loved to give and gave all that he had from buying lunch for his trainees to spoiling his kids and grandkids. He bought things that he really wanted only to give them away to people he loved. He had a sweet tooth and was known as the candy man. The grandkids were always excited to see Grandpa because he always had some sort of sweet surprise. Dad, we will miss you and all you've done for us.

Survived by wife, sons, David Gideon (Melanie); Steven Douglas (Laura); Edward Russell (Natosha); grandchildren, Chelsea, Nick, Tessa, Isaac, Isabelle, Jace, Chad, Shauna, Paige, Lukas, Breanne, Monique,

Katrina; sister, Adele Juarez; brothers, Eldor, Orson and Sterling. Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Wolfgang and Ralph Herrmann, and son Richard.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 5, 2001, 11 a.m. at the Brighton 5th Ward, 2525 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) Friends may call at the Cannon Mortuary, 2460 E. Bengal Blvd. (7600 S.) Friday, May 4, 2001 from 6-8 p.m. and the day of the service at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment Wasatch Lawn
