Obituary for Timothy Guy Christensen

Sandy, Utah – Heaven gained a very loved husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Timothy Guy Christensen was born on Jan. 7, 1944 to C. Carroll A. & Bernice Blaine Christensen, and completed their family of 6 children. He grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from South High School in 1962 and completed his 13 years of walking to school, uphill both ways in 3 feet of snow! (He was such a storyteller, but we believed every word!) 

On April 26, 1963, he married his sweetheart and our mother, Lynda M. Hans in the Manti Temple and sealed our family together forever. Together they raised a family of 9 children, which wasn’t always easy, and was certainly full of trials and challenges, but he loved every one of us so much – in his own way. 

Dad had a great love for sports, especially basketball and softball. He spent many years playing ball and then went on to coach his boys and was 100% vested in their games. Dad also loved the outdoors – the mountains, lakes, the sunrises, and sunsets. He would take every opportunity he could to go fishing with his lifelong friends, his brother, or his sons. His favorite fishing stories come from his time spent in Island Park. 

Dad was also very talented. He enjoyed music, playing the guitar and singing. He is also a very talented painter, and if you caught Dad on a good day, and you were able to snag a painting and keep it, consider yourself very lucky! He also loved old cars and would take every opportunity he found to work on them or talk about any car – he always had a story to tell. 

Dad also had a very strong bond with his 200 pound furry companion, Blaze. Blaze lived like a king the past 9 years and shared every step and every moment with dad. Blaze guarded Dad always and let you know if you were getting too close. Blaze was so protective of Dad, but now we understand why. Blaze knew that dad was ill and was protecting him. If only dogs could talk, maybe we would have known how sick dad was as well. 

Dad is survived by his eternal companion of nearly 60 years, Lynda Mae Hans Christensen and leaves behind many broken hearts. His 8 living children: Shontell (Todd) Olson, Shelli (Ross) Fowlks, Sheila (Michael) Graham, Chad (Becky) Christensen, Justin Christensen, Kerryne (Torrey) Henich, Cameron C.A. Christensen, and LeAnne (Chris Lightner) Christensen; 26 grandchildren: Amberlee (Trevor) Barnson, Joschua (Katlyn) Olson, Kambriell (Tanner) Palmer, Sharrisa (Dallas) Wheadon, BryLeigh J. Olson, Jordan (Whitney) Fowlks, Kelcey (Ben) Andrus, Baylie Fowlks, Jayce Fowlks, Britnee (Chad) Webb, Cameron, Casey, Caden and Cyrus Christensen, Caylie Christensen, Peyton and Pajha Brown, Aniston, Kendale and Trey Henich, Cooper and Caysen Christensen, Kohen Rider, Emma Downs, and Channing Christensen; and 18 Great-grandchildren: Gracelyn, Brooklyn, Kortlyn and Knoxx Barnson, Boston, LolaMae and Raelynn Olson, Maelee and Bexlee Palmer, Paisley, Hadlee, Rylee and Carson Fowlks, Chloie, Evelynne and Atlas Andrus, Marley and Hendrix Webb. Also survived by his only brother; James (Charlene) Christensen, Provo UT, Brother-in-law Jay Buzzo, Denver CO, Sister-in-laws Marlene Orton, West Jordan UT and Sally Ballsteadt, Salt Lake City, UT and brother-in-law Jack Egbert West Jordan UT. He was greeted on the other side by his little boy Shane who he has missed for 47 years. Oh, the reunion they are having! Standing nearby were his parents, sisters, Mickey Buzzo, Ava Lee Walton, Evah Bigler, and Susan Labronte, his in-laws May Madalin Ballsteadt Hans & Walter W. Hans, Brother-in-laws Claude Walton, Bill LaBronte, Lewis Ballsteadt, and DuWayne Ballsteadt, Sister-in-law Madalin Egbert and many other family and friends. 

There will be a private, by invitation family gathering on Thursday, April 6, 2023. 

To respect Dad’s wishes, there will be a Graveside Service only on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 11:00 and will be held at the Sandy City Cemetery, 700 East 9000 South under the direction of Goff Mortuary. Following the Graveside Service, a Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held at the Mt. Jordan 6th Ward building, 9331 S. 300 East, Sandy, UT for close friends and family. 

"A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the BEST times, the laughter, the song, and the good life I lived while I was strong.” Till we meet again Dad, remember, WE love you fiercely.
